Is Red Wine the Same as an Hour at the Gym?

For years we’ve heard that a glass of red wine a day can be instrumental in preventing heart disease, dementia, cancer, and helping to regulate blood pressure. According to a recent study conducted by the University of Alberta there are even more health benefits to this favored beverage. The study revealed that resveratrol, a compound found in red wine that lowers cholesterol and prevents blood clots, has health benefits equal to those of exercise.

Researchers have concluded that one glass of red wine is the equivalent of one hour at the gym. This is certainly a study we can get behind! The research concluded that resveratrol improved physical performance, heart function and muscle strength. The study also found that the component increases heart rates as well.

A balanced diet and exercise along with a daily glass of red wine may be the key to a healthy and happy life. Join us for a glass of red wine and exercise tonight.
